Here is a gallery of some pictures that I took on my three trips (so far) to Québec’s Lower North Shore (a.k.a “The Coast”). [juicebox gallery_id=”9″]

  1. The hovercraft is used to transport people across the river from the airport. The airport and an Innu village are on one side of the river and the village of St. Augustine is on the other. There is no highway or bridge.
In the summer a taxi boat transports people across and in the winter most people travel by snowmobile or hovercraft. The hovercraft is also effective during the spring thaw before the ice melts, but is too thin to support snowmobiles safely.
